The Florence Civic Center broke ground on a $16M expansion project in January 2017 to increase conference, meeting and tradeshow space.  The expansion includes several new meeting rooms, ballroom, expanded concourse and pre-function space, an outdoor terrace area, as well as a new catering kitchen.  The existing ballroom, meeting rooms and lobby area will also undergo renovations to seamlessly tie all spaces together for an all new and improved venue.  Progress is well underway with an expected completion date of Jan/Feb of 2018.

The award-winning Florence Civic Center is undertaking an incredible expansion project to better serve Florence and the surrounding areas.  Construction is now underway as the venue expands its meeting and conference space to accommodate regional and national conference needs.  The larger meeting site will soon attract a variety of conventions and assemblies which Florence previously could not host.  Along with larger associations comes more attendance which generates a greater economic impact for Florence.

The SMG-managed Florence Civic Center is already the largest convention, entertainment and exhibition facility in northeast South Carolina. The expansion project is adding another 25,000 square feet to the facility offering planners more options when it comes to break out meeting spaces, more flexible room layouts and larger capacities.  The expanded spaces will include approximately 8,000 square feet of sub-dividable meeting space, 12,000 square foot lobby and prefunction space, as well as a 5,000 square foot kitchen to keep pace with increasing demands.  Construction is anticipated to be concluded in early spring of 2018.

The Civic Center has won numerous regional and national awards since its inception. More notable honors include the prestigious “Prime Site Award” by Facilities Media Group of New York and also ConventionSouth Magazine’s “Readers’ Choice Award” and named the editor’s pick for “Top Stops in the South”.  The venue is well-known locally as the area’s premier entertainment complex and hosts a wide variety of concerts and family shows each year.  The site has held nationally acclaimed acts for over 20 years including artists such as Reba McEntire, Willie Nelson, Toby Keith, Luke Bryan, Larry The Cable Guy, George Lopez, Cedric the Entertainer, Chris Tucker, Mary J Blige, Tyler Perry, Jason Aldean, Toby Mac, Casting Crowns, Gaithers Homecoming and many more.  The venue also supplies local residents with family entertainment options and activities throughout the year.  A few such events include Disney Jr. Live, Disney on Ice, Monster Jam, WWE Wrestling, Cirque du Soleil, rodeos, circus events, carnivals and more.  Whether planning an event or attending one, the Florence Civic Center has you covered.
